SYNOPSIS: A visiting artist, invited to lecture at an arts foundation, encounters an unusual twist of fate; the adoption of an orphaned slideshow becomes a condition of the artist’s forthcoming residency.

I wrote this piece with the intention of constructing a series of installations that have an experiential or performative emphasis — to question or reconfigure the roles and relationships between artist, audience and institution. As an inter-disciplinary creation in which a visitor may be a viewer, an audience member or a participant, the work offers multiple frameworks or points of reference. One theme, the transition from analog film to digital media and subsequent plethora of orphaned images, poses questions as to what is currently emerging after widespread acknowledgment and use of appropriation.
